The Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventists is experiencing explosive growth in membership. Sabbath May, 16, 2009 was a testament of this fact when a new church was organized in the Five Cays community.

This new congregation was a result of the strategic plan of the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventist. Due to the over population of the Bethel SDA the need arose for a new French speaking congregation on the island of Providenciales.

Several departmental leaders were present at the organization and they brought greetings to the new congregation. Also present at the organization were Pastor Richard Jackson, Executive Secretary of the mission and Brother Hopeton Bansie Treasurer.

The Sermon for the day was delivered by Pastor Peter Kerr, Mission President. He began his message by reminding the new congregation of the fundamental beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He placed emphasis on the fact that the SDA church is built on Christ and his word. Pastor Kerr’s main story was the man with palsy who was brought to Jesus by his four friends. Each friend held a corner of their friend’s bed and brought him to Jesus. Pastor Kerr encouraged each member to hold a corner of the church and bring their friends to Jesus.

The service ended with the official organization of the church with the right hand of fellowship being extended to the officers of the new congregation and its members. The Five Cays SDA is led by Pastor Emmanuel Laurin, church pastor and Brother Osias Joseph, fist elder. Presently the church worships under a tent in Five Cays, but they are looking forward to building a temporary structure on the property in a few weeks.

The French speaking believers in the Turks and Caicos Islands are working very hard to accomplish the gospel commission. It was their first Sabbath worshiping in Five Cays and they had three candidates for baptism on that day. God is still calling individuals to become a part of his kingdom and we as believers need to continue to extend that invitation to a dying world.
