Ingathering 2009
Published: October 13, 2009
The Turks and Caicos Mission of Seventh-day Adventists launched the annual Ingathering program on the 3rd of October 2009.
The Harvest Ingathering program was developed by Jasper Wayne in 1930, an Iowa nurseryman interested both in missions and in placing Adventist literature in the hands of his friends and customers. He ordered fifty (50) copies of a special edition of the Signs of the Times magazine devoted to the problems of capital and labor. He distributed the magazines to his neighbors and asked them for a contribution for mission work. Soon the program was adopted by several conferences and later became an official program of The Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide.
Today some Seventy nine (79) years after the fist ingathering program the Adventist Church is still helping people who are economically challenged with the funds it collects from the program. This year is a very important year because it has been a year of hardship for many due to the global financial crisis. We urge each member and giver to work extra hard this year as seek to be the loving hands of Jesus to the suffering and needy in our communities.
