The Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventists Youth Ministry Department hosted its first Youth Prayer Conference during the weekend of May 22-24, 2009. The Prayer conference was preceded by the annual youth week of prayer; which was a combined effort of the Blue Hills, Bethel and Ephesus congregations.

Delegates from the various churches throughout the Mission gathered at the Blue Hills SDA Church for the weekend of spiritual emphasis. Greetings were brought by mission president, Pastor Peter Kerr during the opening ceremony. Guest speaker for the event was Pastor Charles Blythe, Youth Ministry Director of West Indies Union of Seventh-day Adventists.

On the opening night Pastor Blythe spoke on the Topic: “Why Jesus Loves Me?” He told the young people that Jesus Loves us because we are sinners and he died for us while we were still in sin. In the divine worship service His message was entitled “Why I love Jesus?” Pastor Blythe shared his testimony of why he loves Jesus and he encouraged all present to enter into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. The sermon was interspersed with numerous prayer sessions.

The prayer conference ended with a Praise and Testimony service on Sunday evening. The message was presented by Pastor Blythe, after which the youth were given the opportunity to testify of the goodness of the Lord in their lives. During the testimony service it was evident that the young people were going through many challenges in their lives and they were grateful to God for the prayer conference, so that they could be drawn closer to Him.

Pastor Blythe commended Sister Sonia Heastie for the tremendous work that she is doing as Youth Ministry Director in the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission and he encouraged all to continue supporting her as she works for the Lord.

The weekend was filled with prayer sessions, drama and illustrious singing by the Youth of the Turks and Caicos Islands mission. There was also a community outreach project, in which the young people were given an opportunity to pray and sing with elderly people on the island of Providenciales. The Monday after the prayer conference a young person was interviewed and these were her words, “This is the best youth event ever held in our mission. My life was changed.”

We thank God for the success of Youth Prayer Conference 2009 and we pray that our youth will remain faithful to God.
